It’s officially fall. In my town, it has been in the 90’s all week, so it doesn’t feel like fall. There is not a lot of visual evidence that fall is coming, but I know the seasons will change. Soon, we will enjoy the cooler weather and see all the beauty of the changing leaves. But, if I go on just what I feel and see today then I might believe that we are going to be stuck in this hot, uncomfortable situation forever.

If only it were that easy to believe that the uncomfortable seasons of life would eventually change. It’s hard when you have endured the heat of your circumstances for a long time to believe that you will ever find relief.  But just as the seasons of weather change so do the seasons of life.

So, what do we do while we are waiting for the hard seasons of our life to change? We ask God to help us endure for a little while longer. We remember that seasons do change and that God will eventually start turning things around as he has done time and time again in our lives.

We also need to remember to live in gratefulness for the good things we have experienced in this season. Be thankful for the people that have walked through the heat with us. Let’s stop and take stock of the lessons that we have learned, and if we think there are none, maybe that’s why we are still here. Each difficult time comes to teach us and draw us closer to God.

The same God that changes the summer heat into the cool breeze in the fall also changes the season of life. So, hold on and have faith the heat is fading, and relief is coming. God is good in every season of life.

“Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.” (Hebrews 11:1) (NCV)

"God is good in every season of life." Taking this to heart today, even simply in the midst of a challenging day with my kids.
